Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

May 25, 2009 By: admin Category: Runtime Library

The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is the new managed code programming model for Windows®. It combines the power of the .NET Framework version 2.0 with new technologies for building applications that have visually compelling user experiences, seamless communication across technology boundaries, and the ability to support a wide range of business processes. These new technologies are Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Windows CardSpace. The .NET Framework 3.0 is included as part of the Windows Vista™ operating system; you can install it or uninstall it using Windows Features Control Panel. This redistributable package is for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

The .NET Framework is designed to fulfill the following objectives:

  • To provide a consistent object-oriented programming environment whether object code is stored and executed locally, executed locally but Internet-distributed, or executed remotely.
  • To provide a code-execution environment that minimizes software deployment and versioning conflicts.
  • To provide a code-execution environment that promotes safe execution of code, including code created by an unknown or semi-trusted third party.
  • To provide a code-execution environment that eliminates the performance problems of scripted or interpreted environments.
  • To make the developer experience consistent across widely varying types of applications, such as Windows-based applications and Web-based applications.
  • To build all communication on industry standards to ensure that code based on the .NET Framework can integrate with any other code.

The .NET Framework has two main components: the common language runtime and the .NET Framework class library. The common language runtime is the foundation of the .NET Framework. You can think of the runtime as an agent that manages code at execution time, providing core services such as memory management, thread management, and remoting, while also enforcing strict type safety and other forms of code accuracy that promote security and robustness. In fact, the concept of code management is a fundamental principle of the runtime. Code that targets the runtime is known as managed code, while code that does not target the runtime is known as unmanaged code. The class library, the other main component of the .NET Framework, is a comprehensive, object-oriented collection of reusable types that you can use to develop applications ranging from traditional command-line or graphical user interface (GUI) applications to applications based on the latest innovations provided by ASP.NET, such as Web Forms and XML Web services.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0, and includes .NET Framework 2.0 service pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.0 service pack 1.

Windows Visual Basic 6 (VB6 dll) & Visual C++ 2008 (mfc90 dll) Runtime Library

May 19, 2009 By: admin Category: Runtime Library

The Microsoft windows runtime library, are required to run programs that were commonly written with Visual Basic 6 or visual c++. It can be difficult to know whether a program needs these files because often an author fails to mention it in the help files or documentation. Typically the way you find out is that you run the program and an error message appears ‘A required .DLL file was not found’.

Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime library
Applies to: Windows
Requirements: Windows

The current set of vb6 runtime library is Service Pack 6 (SP6) released in late March 2004 and it will run files written with VB 6 SP1 to SP6. This package includes msvbvm60.dll, oleaut32.dll, olepro32.dll and others. After you have downloaded the file, simply run it and the files will be copied to their correct location.

The Visual C++ 2008 runtime library
Applies to: Windows
Requirements: Windows

The Visual C++ 2008 SP1 runtime library, also called mfc90.dll runtime files, are required to run programs that were written in Visual C++ 2008. The latest set for Visual C++ 2008 is Service Pack 1 (SP1) - it was released in August 2008. This package installs runtime components of C Runtime (CRT), Standard C++, ATL, MFC, OpenMP and MSDIA libraries. After you have downloaded the file, simply run it and the files will be installed to their correct location.
